The Handsome Sam

The Handsome Sam is housed in a former antiques shop on Canterbury Road, and is named after Chris’s beloved pet cat, who died four years ago. Prior to opening the Micropub Chris Williamson was a former radiology manager at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Chris has made everything in the pub himself, including the wooden tables and chairs. He says the idea behind the distinctive high benches and tables is that everyone, be they sitting or standing, is at the same height.
